That is exactly what happened to David, a thirty four year old from the United Kingdom who adopted a tuxedo kitten named Mario. In a viral TikTok video shared on his account @supurmario, he shows what life with his one year old cat actually looks like. The clip features Mario knocking items over, tearing into anything he can reach, and moving through the house with the confidence of someone who believes gravity exists solely to amuse him.
Over the footage, David adds the text: “Cats are low maintenance, they said … My cat.” His caption continues that Mario has been with them for one year and has “settled in a little too well,” followed by twenty seconds of his most chaotic moments.
Speaking to Newsweek, David explained that Mario arrived as a tiny four week old kitten and immediately took over both his heart and his daily routine. “Despite my best efforts, I’ve somehow adopted a cat with unlimited energy, zero regard for personal space, and a Ph.D. in knocking things off surfaces,” he said. Because David works from home, Mario often acts as a self appointed supervisor, keeping a close eye on him while preparing his next burst of mischief.
He began filming Mario’s antics for fun, but viewers quickly connected with the energy and unpredictability of the young cat. The videos took off online, yet Mario remains delightfully indifferent to the attention. As David put it, his cat is perfectly satisfied as long as the treats keep appearing.
Cats might have a reputation for being self reliant, but domestic felines do require proper care, interaction, and stimulation.
